I remember somepoint in the early 2000s, I was driving my son Dumi to school one morning. He puts on this rock music with whiny teenaged girl-like singing. At this phase of his he had long hair which covered his eyes, I had no idea how he could see. He sits in the back seat, arms crossed, proclaims to call me a bourgeoisie swine to which I respond laughing. I then drop him off 3 miles from school and tell him to expect to walk home after school ends. He responds how unfair it is. I respond, 'yes, here is your music to help you deal with this eternal suffering.' I toss his CD playlist out the window and peel out. I light a cigar, switch the music to Beethoven's fifth symphony, 3rd movement and put on my sunglasses and stare out on the horizon. My son returns home after school, sweating and calls me a dick and locks himself in his room. Now he is wiser.

The sort of music that is beyond time. The sort of music that you feel more than you hear. I love the fact that vaporwave/dreampunk projects like these have such extremely evocative aesthetics they directly fill your mind with sensations you didn't know you had. You'd maybe think it relies on that solely, but it's coupled with gorgeous musicianship + intense production ideas. The volume and spaces it creates just pull you in instantly whatever your initial mood was. Still stunning to this day. SUPRAQUENCER
